Ovarian Cyst, Types, Symptoms and Treatment

What is Ovarian Cyst?
The ovaries are basically part of the reproductive systems in females and are located in the lower abdomen on both sides of the uterus.  Women have two ovaries that produce eggs as well as the hormones progesterone and estrogen.
At times, it may happen that a fluid-filled sac called a cyst may develop on one of the ovaries. Many women have experienced this at least once during their lifetime. Usually, In most cases, the cysts that are formed over the ovaries are painless and show no symptoms.
Types of ovarian cysts
Ovarian cysts have many types to mention, such as dermoid cysts and endometrioma cysts. However, functional cysts are the most common type in women. Functional cysts include two types i.e. follicle and corpus luteum cysts.
Follicle cyst
The follicle is a sac where an egg grows, during a woman’s menstrual cycle. This sac is situated in the interior of ovaries. Generally in most cases what happens is, this follicle(sac) breaks open and releases an egg. In case if the follicle doesn’t break open, the fluid which is inside the follicle can form a cyst on the ovary.
Corpus luteum cysts
Follicle sacs have a tendency to typically dissolve after releasing an egg. However, in case the sac doesn’t dissolve and the opening of the follicle seals, additional fluid can develop inside the sac. This accumulation of fluid leads to a corpus luteum cyst.
Symptoms of an ovarian cyst
It is difficult to recognize the occurrence of it, as often times, ovarian cysts do not cause any symptoms. However, some of the symptoms can appear as the cyst grows and they may include;
1. Nausea and vomiting
2. Abdominal bloating or swelling
3. Painful bowel movements
4. Painful intercourse
5. Pelvic pain before or during the menstrual cycle
6. Pain in the lower back or thighs
Some of the severe symptoms that may require immediate medical attention are;
1. Rapid and fast breathing
2. Fever
3. Feeling dizzy
4. Severe pelvic pain
These symptoms can indicate a ruptured cyst or an ovarian torsion. Both complications can lead to serious outcomes if the treatment is delayed.

5 Effective Modern Techniques to Overcome Infertility

Are you looking for a working solution to overcome your infertility issues? Many women today, due to various reasons (hormonal level, age, and health) can’t fulfill the dream of being a mother by getting pregnant.

Lately, the field of medical science and scientific discoveries have made it possible to overcome male and female infertility with guaranteed results.

However, the most important thing before coming to any self-conclusion is, getting physically examined by a fertility expert doctor, determining the exact cause for your infertility and then the doctor will suggest the right line of treatment for it.

The following techniques offer a high rate of success in pregnancy and can cure infertility problems;

1)IVF  - In-vitro fertilization technique is quite a modern method used to get the women pregnant.
In Vitro Fertilization is a process by which an egg is fertilized along with the sperm outside the body.
Infertility can be due to many reasons and IVF should not be considered initially for treatment. It is practiced only when other methods like fertility drugs, surgery, and artificial insemination have failed.
The IVF treatment consists of following cycles A) Ovulation Induction, B)  A Natural Cycle, and C) Stimulated Cycle.

2)IUI - Intrauterine Insemination commonly known as IUI treatment is a procedure dealing with the introduction of a clinically prepared sperm inside a woman’s uterus.

The process is relatively simple and economical. In IUI, clinically prepared sperms are implanted into the uterine cavity using a fine tube inserted through the cervix. Subsequently, the sperms are much nearer to the opening of each of the two Fallopian tubes. This means that they have to swim a lesser distance to meet up with the egg.

3)ICSI - Intra - Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is a procedure consisting of an injection of a single sperm directly into an egg in order to fertilize it. This fertilized egg (embryo) is then transferred to the uterus of the expecting mother.

The procedure for ICSI is similar to that for IVF. The difference is that whereas in the IVF process the fertilization is induced in a dish, in ICSI the physician selects sperm from a given sample and then a single sperm is directly injected into each egg. ICSI is known to be the most successful form of fertility treatment and forms almost half of all assisted means reproduction methods.

 4)Hysteroscopy - Hysteroscopy is the examination of the uterine cavity that allows for the determination and treatment of several uterine conditions. Some of which, could lead to fertility problems in females.

A Hysteroscopy is a long, thin, lighted device which is inserted into a woman’s uterus through the vagina. It projects an image on a screen and lets the physician see the uterus.
Need for Hysteroscopy- Need for Hysteroscopy would arrive in following conditions;
-Abnormal hysterogram
-Abnormal uterine bleeding
-Suspected intrauterine pathology
-Uterine anomalies
-Unexplained infertility
-Pregnancy wastage

 5)Laparoscopy - Laparoscopy Surgery also known as minimally invasive surgery is a modern clinical technique that has replaced the traditional open treatment that needed to make large incisions in the skin.

This treatment is performed using a laparoscope under local anesthesia with a tiny high-resolution camera attached to look inside the stomach and pelvic for medical examination and treatment.

Laparoscopy Treatment plays a vital role in the investigation and treatment of infertility essentially where endometriosis or pelvic disorder exists.
